This question may be more appropriate for the distance-education
group, be here goes, anyway: I've heard that Excelsior College has the
only accredited exclusively online A.A. (2 year) degree nursing
program. There are plenty of RN to BSN programs online but the only
A.A. program is at Excelsior. The principal requirement is that a
prospective student must be a licensed and working LVN (LPN). Does
anyone in the group have any information on this program? Yes, I've
been to their website but it's mostly marketing-oriented and
testimonials. Would appreciate first hand opinions - thanks.

I was an L.V.N. when I entered and later graduated from Excelsior.
However, I,also, had a B.S. in Biochemistry.
From what I have experienced and heard , many Excelsior students and
students in other R.N. schools have a great deal of difficulty in
taking and
passing the science prerequisites for the same.
At Excelsior, the requisite clinicals and skill testing are fair and
unbiased, in my opinion. Each requisite clinical, when I took the
same, was monitored by three different nursing instructors. Passing
the clinical required that two of the three instructors passed you in
the same. This system was put in place to prevent, as much as
possible, discrimination either intentional or unintentional.
I tutored some Excelsior R.N. students in basic nursing and science
subjects for about a year.
If you are an L.V.N., you have the basic nursing skills and
competencies, absent some few nursing skill sets which L.V.N.s are not
allowed to perform, requisite for being an R.N. except for the
theoretical knowledge concommitant with the advanced assessment and
intervention requisite for an R.N..
If you apply yourself academically and are persistent, the Excelsior
LVN to RN program is an efficient and economic means to prepare for
and obtain your R.N. degree and License, in my opinion.
