While I was googling for Poultry Shield to see if it's available in New
Zealand I came upon this site, then got side-tracked into reading
various chook topics and came upon this. Nobody in that group seemed to
have a definite answer as to what it is, so I wonder if someone here
knows? It's WEIRD!

We have had it on this group before
It seems that just occasionally a bird will slough off material inside the
tract and expell it.
So far experience seems to be that the birds are neither up nor down with
it.

It seems to be fully encapsulated in skin that has grown around it, but

no sign of a cut or broken end. Strange, very strange.
