I have a source or two for >12 lenses at 2-3mm, which are ok across
the visible band, and "usable" with 850 or 940nm illumination, but the
image is out of focus at the longer wavelengths.
Does anyone make achromats that cover down that low? I won't have
enough light to use aperture tricks, and I don't care if I loose some
focus on the blue end.
I'm not really looking for miracles, just trying to get the best out
of my systems.

Well, if I could get 400 thru 940 I'd be very happy, but I'm willing
to make a trade.
400-850 would be a big improvement, but I do need to work with
"covert" NIR (940) as well as "semi-covert" (850) illuminators.
I can't believe that it just so happens that the range that can be
brought into focus just happens to be the human visible range, but I
am willing to believe that for most lenses, that's all that's normally
important, and they shouldn't compromise the performance to obtain
unwanted features in those designs. |
