On paper its a very nice idea: renewable source, no moving parts,
simple, eventually cheap.

However, I saw an article recently about solar cell manufacturing in
China and they make a ton of a solid waste byproduct that is toxic
and bad for the soil and lots of land in China is being made
permanently useless on account of this.

There has been allot of Labs for years saying the cost is going down,
finally they all seem to disappear when no investment money flows their way.

The guys that own the solar cell factories probably know within a few
cents what their production costs are per wafer, panel, watt, etc. If
they can sell as much as they can make at $5 a watt, there is no
reason to reduce price... when someone gets a warehouse full of panels
and decides to cut em loose for $3 a watt because he needs the storage
space for something more profitable, THEN you have some supply
incentives at work.
