Listened to most of the EVA last night and was rather puzzled about the
connector problem. Beian as I cannot see the connector, it was not exactly
clear how it actually worked. What sort of connector was it?
It sounded as if either the locking mechanism was not actually unlatching,
no matter what the indicators said, or its welded closed on the pins.
I assume this must carry some high peak currents, especially as its
apparently powering two of the Gyros.... or is this merely a control cable
of some sort?
I've noticed before that the connector types used do not seem to be that
mechanically simple, such as a jackscrew tightened, or bayonet lock, or
screw ring type.
I seriously doubt that current welding would be allowed to occur, as this
would imply overload of the wiring, not something you want inside a loom
which is so hard to get at!
Maybe they need some WD 40 in their toolkits!
