Thanks to news:47b0c112$0$17394$426a74cc@news.free.fr ,
you can look at http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~rcb7/globaltext2.html and
http://www.geology.sdsu.edu/localgeology/gekmz/paleontology/paleoglobe/
for hight size pictures with continental cover and no text, and a
version
.kml globe simulator.

That's really good. I like it (the google earth one, that is).
Thanks for
the link.

George

What are you referring to as the "google earth one"? I'm intrigued by
the /paleoglobe images from SDSU, but how are they stitched together?
Does it have anything to do with the file 'paleogeography.kmz' ?
(Don't know what app is required to open that one.)

Joe

You need Google Earth to open it.

George

George,
Have you figured out how to switch it to different time periods? It
opens as Middle Devonian, but I notice there are subdirectories on the
site for other periods. Can't see anything obvious to switch time.
Maybe one needs to download the entire site and edit the kmz
file...........
cheers
Bill

I just click on another time period, and wait...it takes a while to
download the images.

George

Ah, I didn't have my sidebar open and could not find the tickboxes before.
cheers
Bill

I should have mentioned that on the sidebar, there is an arrow that, if
clicked, will start an animation that goes through all the various
timelines.

It's a need if you don't want to depend of the low downloading rate
of the server each time you open. I have do this, and it work fine.
Now i have a local 90 MB .kmz doc. (zipped by me).
