Here in EU at about 8:38 AM, not a real bad time to get out of bed.

You're in for an unpleasant surprise. The US goes to daylight savings
time earlier than the UK this year, and STS-123 happens to be in between
the time changes. So you're only four hours ahead of KSC. Better get up
an hour earlier. Actually, better make that an hour ten - Angela
screwed up the time, it's really 0228 EDT, 0628 GMT. |

Thanks for that. I wasn't aware of that change this year. Very useful as I
do some business with an entity on the East oast
Still, 6.28 AM is not *too* bad. Better than 2.28 AM! |

Long night for me: http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc says
05:28:00 a.m.
Maybe an early morning instead of a late night. |

At present. From Sun, 2008-03-09 07:00 to Sun, 2008-03-30 01:00 you
will only be four hours ahead.
One hopes that KSC will have remembered that they'll lose a civil hour
during countdown.

flame on NASA web.

You seem to be in Australia. If so, do you really believe that?
The USA will be 4 hours behind GMT, so GMT 06:28, and in Summer I
believe Sydney to be 11 hours ahead of GMT with most of the rest of
Australia not far behind. I get Tue, 2008-03-11 17:28:00 for NSW, using
<URL:http://www.merlyn.demon.co.uk/js-date5.htm#Demo>.
Given that they're flying to the ISS, you'd think they would publish the
times also in UT - or would you?

I would have thought UT would be ideal. NASA makes a big fuss about how the
shuttle "inspires the world", but don't even consider other time zones. |

....Uh, that's only on the East Coast. By the time you make it out to
the Left Coast, you're up to 7. And then along comes the myth called
Daylight Savings Time.
