Dear Nursing Professional,
We would like to invite you to participate in a survey to explore the opinions of nurses about the adoption of new information security technologies in their workplaces. Because of government regulations and the business environment, access control technologies need to be adopted in order to protect the personal information of patients and providers. These mandates create a situation where workflows in the clinical workplace may need to change in order to comply with the new security requirements. We believe that the results of this research will help health care organizations prepare their nursing staffs to use and adopt new information security technologies and procedures. This survey will help identify attitudes about computer use and information security in the nursing profession. It is expected that we will identify issues to help nurses better use available information technologies.
The title of this project is Fingerprints in place of Passwords: A Study of Technology Adoption in the Nursing Profession. Your participation is completely voluntary and will be invaluable in contributing to the results of this study. At the end of the survey there is space for you to enter your email address if you wish to receive an electronic copy of the results. All information gathered in this survey will be kept completely confidential. You will not be identified personally nor will information be gathered that would enable a third party to identify you be collected; only aggregated data will be analyzed.
The results of this study will be published as a dissertation in fulfillment of the requirements for a Ph.D. at Capella University and may in the future be submitted to information systems or health informatics journals for possible publication.
