Would anyone be able to recommend an introductory book or website that
gives a relatively elementary introduction to Lyapunov Exponent? Any
response will be certainly appreciated.

I recommend Steve Strogatz' book:  Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos, Addison
Wesley Publ.

Also, Ed Ott's book:  Chaos in Dynamical Systems, Cambridge Publ.

For a nice mathematical, but understandable, introduction to Lyapunov
Exponents see the paper by Eckmann and Ruelle:

"Ergodic Theory of Chaos and Strange Attractors," J.-P. Eckmann and D.
Ruelle, Reviews of Modern Physics 57, 617 (1985).  -- Just read the
sections on Characteristic Exponents and any that seem to be
prerequisites.  It's still a very good paper despite its age.

Sorry, I don't know of any web sites other than the Wikipedia.  I don't
know if the Wiki article is a good one.  Never checked it out.

I hope that helps.

Thank you! I do not have a very strong mathmatical background, so I
appreciate the references!
