hello...

i'm not sure whether this is the right group...

my name is fara and i need help in satellite matters. I'm very new at
this, so I was hoping you could point me to the right direction. I
need to know:-

1. what types of satellite images are available? is the type depends
on which satellite that provide the images?
2. what are the common file extension for satellite images?
3. where can i download free satellite images of a palm tree?

my final year project requires me to have a satellite image of a palm
trees, then using the grid network that i've setup, I'd be able to
make the process of recognizing the palm trees faster. now my problem
is, i have no idea of what exactly type of satellite images that I'm
supposed to use. I read somewhere that IKONOS provides the best
satellite picture, but I still need to know more of the basic stuff of
satellite images. please help me. thank you very much

thank you very much...
