January 6, 2008 -- PENACOOK, NH - Chelsea Clinton, whose dad longs for a
cheeseburger in one of Hillary's TV ads, swore off meat at age 11 in a
sign of "emergent rebelliousness," the daughter revealed yesterday
during a campaign swing through New Hampshire.
But she didn't hang out with a bad crowd._/* She went to math camp*/_,
which is somewhere south of marching band on the school-rebelliousness
scale. Proving it, she chatted about fractals, which are geometric shapes.
The 27-year-old, who rarely gives interviews, piped up several times on
Hillary's bus - part of a new campaign to court young voters, who
overwhelmingly backed Barack Obama in Iowa.
When her mom stopped to chat with a student who was a vegan, Chelsea
chimed in: "My mother is asking these questions partly because I got
home when I was 11 and just declared I was no longer eating meat."
Chelsea can be found at nearly every campaign event nowadays,
buttonholing potential voters. She flashed her father Bill's charm as
she asked a college student from Durham to vote for her mom - and then
gave him a wink. |
