Hello ,
I used few leitz lenses and I fall in love with them. I can write a
novel about them.
Now I want to analyze these lenses with the help of their patent
drawings and a free software for to map their every single specific
aberration on a graphic.
My intention is to compare few similar lenses - like summicron and
summarit - from each single specific aberration on each point of film.
Is it usable ?
Is it tried before ?
Is there a practical way for to show these maps ?

I'm sorry to tell you this but what you suggest almost certainly will
not work. The published patent files (for obvious reasons) are not
the same as the manufactured designs.
I've never understood the reason for patenting individual lens designs
(as compared with construction types). As they are not manufacturable
as is, and the actual design is not the same, they protect nothing.
In the past I've assumed the reason is that investors will see the
list of patents which will increase the perceived value of the
company.

There is a lens patent collection named "Lensview"

Check if your Leitz lenses are in there?
Check their prices :-)
Patent files sometimes give quite detailed informations,
sometimes less.
