How many documents could you have open at once? How big was the one

documents, too.

Stay off the porno and fileshare sites so you won't have to keep
reinstalling it. I'm still using one computer with the original install
of Windows ME, even though the computer is on the fifth motherboard.
Its on 24/7 and has never been reinstalled. I went to a larger had
drive five years ago by simply cloning the 20 GB drive to a new 80 GB
drive, and the original 20 GB drive has been used in several other
computers without the OS being reinstalled.

snip my previous rant
Since this is a science cross-post rather than a computer engineering
discussion, let me just add a few thoughts about computer theory. And
by that I mean fundamental philosophy rather than binary mathematics
of calculations and the like.
A computer is an interesting device. It is a way to build a "machine"
by doing operations sequentially. And even better, this new device is
actually capable of emulating a great many different hyper-complex
machines by simply changing instructions as to what it does. Think
about this. In the mechanical age, you got some metal, a machinist
turned out parts and you put the gears etc. together and you ended up
with a "machine" that did something. One machine and "one" thing it
did, even though that "one thing" could at times be a plurality of
separate functions.
Suppose now you wanted to build a machine that took a million gears
and cams etc. to build. That is expensive and complex. But now we
invent another type of machine that uses just ONE gear and ONE cam but
has the ability to store what these two parts did so that the
operations of the 1,000,000 gears can be done sequentially on the TWO
parts!
So, you're on the same drugs as Radium, and Skyduck?

And just how many documents does a user NEED to have open? Just how
slow would you like your computer to run? Oh, Look! Michael figured
out how to do high speed timing in software. Too bad, my 10 gigHz
machine now runs at Radio Shack speed. But that's just "the nature of

Like you have ANY idea what I do or do not understand about computer

I repeat: Just HOW many programs does a user NEED to have running at

Just how much overhead is REQUIRED? Have you ever asked question like
that?
I doubt it. Like most programmers, you always take the quick and dirty
way out to make life easy for yourself, and then justify your lazyness
by telling everyone that in your "expert" opinion that it's the
"nature of the beast" and the software you wrote simply HAS to be as
fuked up as it is!

You don't appear to understand anything.
Right, and you are a great guy doing a fine job! It's pretty clear
that YOU are one of the people responsible for the present inefficient
state of computing as well as all the user-hostile structures out
there!

Hey, I'm sure I CAN write something better...certainly better than
anything YOU can write! But the fact that I haven't written this or
that in NO way means I can't suggest improvements in what other people
are doing! Your logic is false.

WINDOWS ME!!!!!!!
A "LARGER" drive of 80Gigs!!!!!
BWAHAHAHAHAhahahaha!
And you are trying to tell ME what a computer "expert" you are?
<snort>!
Hey, what I want to know is where you actually found a place that
still SELLS 80 gig drives? :-)
You do know that ME has not been supported since 2006!
You need to "upgrade" and buy the "latest versions" SO BAD!!!!
You DO know that "upgrading" and "buying the latest version" is the
"nature of the beast" < right? Of course leaving your computer on 24/7
sure "solves" the "boot" problem, but doesn't solve the one of hacker
access to everything over the network 24/7. Oh yeah, there's another
good one! Using software as a "firewall"! Yeah, that'll stop
intruders for sure!
Windoze ME!!! 80GIG!!!! <snort>!

That Tandy was a piece of shit when it was shipped.

Enough to do the job at hand. Can't you figure that out? I have
severe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, so I do a lot of copy and paste from a
collection of templates and scripts I've written, rather than type them
over, and over, and over, and over. Usually, there are about 25 to 30
text files open at once, all in Wordpad. That's right, I'm an old fart
who still does HTML by hand.

Have you ever written a control program to operate an ATE test
fixture forcircuit boards used in a $20,000 radio? Have you ever done
ANYTHING other than whine like a little girl? My work is in orbit,
aboard the ISS as part of the 20 MHz bandwidth Data, video and voice
communications system. It is a TV station in Destion Florida, built
from an emty building and used broadcast equipment that hadn't been on
the air for five years, or more. I have a letter of commendation from
my Commanding General for the work I did to rebuild a military TV
station in Alaska.

Its GHz, dumbFUCK. 10 GHz, huh? Those are some strong drugs you're
taking.
Quote: machine now runs at Radio Shack speed. But that's just "the nature of

Lets see. I had 96 PDF data sheets downloading at once, while
listening to a streaming radio station, and writing a HTML index for the
downloaded files, all at once. Ow, yeah, it was on that 733 MHz
Emachines with Windows ME. THAT didn't slow it down, but it did fill my
connection to the net. Lets see you download and display a
semiconductor data sheet on your crappy Tandy, let alone multitask.

What are you a six year old who's never been spanked? I don't have,
nor do I want a Lexus, but I can assure you that there IS a crank in
that Lexus. It converts the reciprocating motion of the pistons into
rotary motion to drive the transmission. Mechanics is another field you
obviously know nothing about. As far as being in shape, what business
is it of yours? I don't date queers. If you could read and
comprehend, you would already have the answer. Its in every message
I've posted for over a year.

Another one that went way over your head. I said that ONE of the
computers. Out of a half dozen on my network, and another hundred
waiting to be rebuilt and given away to local disabled Veterans who
need, but can not afford a working computer.

You lack of comprehension is amazing. The drive was bought in 2001.

Why do I need to upgrade a computer that does what i want it to? It
is ONLY used to listen to www.WSMonline.com
