What's a tasty snack that's low in trans fats and sodium, but with decent
nutritional value? I don't need to lose weight but I want something that's
blood pressure-friendly.
I'm looking to find a healthful alternative to my main vice, ice cream. For
example, I enjoy dry-roasted unsalted almonds. Can anyone recommend another
nice snack with similar health benefits?

Frozen fruit of any kind is a great, satisfying replacement for ice
cream. Blueberries and cherries come to mind. Also, if you are in a food
prep mood, smoothies would be good too. |

Try Fage non fat greek yogurt (a creamy/high protein/no sugar added/
natural yogurt)... with berries (BLUEBERRIES!!) and possibley add a
lowfat homemade trailmix of some sort. You can add Stevia which is
a Natural sweetener better than Splenda OR you can add fruit such as
oranges that are naturally juicy that will sweeten the yogurt up
without adding other sweeteners. You can freeze it if you prefer it
cold and eat like icecream!! |

Walnuts are also a good nut, being high in omega 3 fatty acids.
Try raw veggies such as carrots, celery, grape tomatoes, cauliflower,
radishes, and broccoli.

Try mixing raisins in with any unsalted nuts. Crunchy and sweet, a
good combo for a snack.
