Hi Folks,

looking for some opinions here. I'm 5 weeks out from have had four
implants and an acrylic bridge fitted which until a week ago I
considered wholly successful.

Trouble is, I was eating one of these breakfast type bars with small
nuts and the surface of the bridge cracked propagating to one of four
holes. I went back to the prothsodontist who did the job and they
agreed to have the lab repair it.

Fair enough you might say. However 'the man' recons it is very unusual
for the bridge to fail so early after fitting. Not only that, two of
the screws that sit in the abutments had come loose leaving two
remaing to take the load!

Only explanation are small nuts putting high pressure on acrylic
surface (pressure = force/ v small area ?) and tooth grinding.

My thoughts are that it might be a materials science issue where the
strength of the polymer has been compromised by the drilling process.
But without holographic interferometry of before and after drilling
together with a finite element analysis it is hard to say :-(

Any suggestions re a prognosis appreciated

regards

David
