Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone could help. Whilst brushing my teeth this
morning I noticed the paste was searing a portion of the inside of my
mouth, where the gum met the cheek. I prodded it with my tongue and it
felt like the skin inside was flaking away - it was also bleeding,
quite lightly.
I have been under a lot of stress with exams recently (including
smoking much more than usual), but i've never had an ulcer before, so
am unsure if this is one or not.
Is it worth getting checked out? Any of you super fantastic dentist
people got any ideas?
Thanks in advance for anything,
Obtugular. |

Incidentally - any idea how long I have before it starts to get bad?
The original post was up less than an hour after I first became aware
of the conditions.
I only ask because my nearest NHS dentist requires me to lose 3/4 of a
days revision in travel time, so I'm wondering if I can simply use
salt-water and increased brushing/mouthwash as a temporary remedy for
a week or so.

If you actually have ANUG this is a true infection of the gum tissue.
The destruction is permanent. Antibiotics and meticulous hygiene
are required to resolve this particular disease.
Many times professional cleaning is also required.
Recommend you have it checked out sooner rather than later.
