Its varies a great deal but often they will be Mum for around 5 weeks and
think about laying after that
- it varies on :
Condition before and after sitting
Time of year
Weather
Age of birds
etc
An early brood and a persistant broody might give you two broods in one
year, you will also have a bird whose resources are badly depleted to go
into the winter.

She just hatched out 4 chicks the 5th one did not have a chick in it
,strange as it was that one was her own egg.the weather is getting warm
here southwestern michigan in the U.S.A. & she was in very good health.
So if i let her stay with the babies for 5 weeks then she wii start to
lay again? How old do the chicks have to be before I can put
them in with the rest of the chickens, there will be 5 hens & 1 rooster.
thank you for the help jean U.S.A |
