Well..ordered chicks from a hatchery in our state month and a half
ago...had to wait awhile for shipment because we wanted a few more
speckled sussex....we were a little disappointed that we had to wait but
actually it worked out just great as we had two hens that have been
sitting on some eggs for just over a month with no action under
them...two of the eggs finally hatched today on the day the shipment was
received...we just slipped the chicks we received under the two broody
hens and whala...they were transformed into the mothers they were meant
to be...this afternoon they were out of the nests caring for the new
hatchlings AND the newly received chicks....we had been a little
concerned about how the rest of our flock would take to the new chicks
but this should take care of that...timing is everything!!!
