North Korea just tested a nuclear bomb! Bye bye Nuclear
Nonproliferation Treaty! Everyone is furious at North Korea, and there
are fears that everyone near North Korea (Japan, South Korea, Thailand,
Vietnam) will go nuclear too. Its clear to me that drastic and creative
action is needed to prevent a regional nuclear arms race. I therefore
propose the following creative proposal:
I: The U.S. offer to negotiate a treaty to abolish all nuclear weapons
worldwide, but insist that North Korea and Iran first freeze all their
nuclear activities, and let the IAEA verify said freeze. If North Korea
and/or Iran refuse, we would be able to mobilize the entire world
against whichever nation had the audacity to block the worldwide
abolition of nuclear weapons. For once, the U.S. would have the entire
world, and the peace movement on its side! |
