Can anyone explain why the change in when daylight saving's time
starts this Sunday instead of in April like usual? I don't like DST
in the first place, by the way. It completely screws up my system for
weeks.

Are you all ready to make sure everything is correct on Sunday? In my
case, one car clock, two laptops, two phone answering machines, and
two DVDs will all have to be checked.

Thank goodness I don't have more, such things as blackberries and cell
phones, although the news said cells should come through
accurately.

It's a good thing I handle change well...sometimes.

And there's a download to fix your computer so you at least don't have
to worry about that. Just read the article.

I wish we had DST all year round. I'd be a very happy camper.

I do prefer falling back to springing forward. Losing an hour of sleep
psychologically kills me, but I longer hours of daylight albeit again,
"phony", I could just hall my butt out of bed earlier, right?

I'd be all for it all year myself. I hate mornings and here in northern
New England it's dark not much after 4 a times of the year. I'm all for
extending this. Sucks when you work a job with scheduled hours - but for
me it doesn' t matter much now

I have to admit - I just don't fool with my clocks. It drives the kids
nuts and they fix them as they see them.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't known about it. My family may have
enlightened me before Sunday, maybe or maybe not! ;>)

When the daylight hours are longer, I seem to get more energy. I tend
to do more house cleaning, and I walk the dog more often. I think I'm
so happy to be outside and out of the work cockpit. I love the first
sign of spring when everything gets green again.

My nephew visited us from Arizona, here in D.C., and he had never been
on the East Coast before. The wee lad hadn't ever seen trees without
leaves, and so he asked us why all of the trees were dead. LOL

Yep, I'm ready to spring forward! :>)

I remember, Rae, we divided the monitoring of the AOL message boards
because I'm a morning person while you're a late owl.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I prefer it get dark earlier than 8 or
9 p.m. When it's dark, my neighbors no longer are outside mowing
their yards.

Me, too. I hate standard time. During WW II it was DST all the time and I
hated it when they went back to changing.

I think they are just making a big fuss over nothing, just like Y2K. If you
have your computers set to download upgrades it should take care of itself.
Our car clock is never right--we never change it seasonally as we both wear
watches. I have a clock that will change time automatically, and if it
doesn't, no big deal to do it manually, and that leaves our bedroom alarm
clock only to worry about. I think the cell phones, etc. will change
automatically.

Just something for the news media to make a fuss over now that ANS has died
down! It definitely will save electricity in our house, but if people have
to get up in the dark it probably won't make much difference to them.

I went to a website that had all sorts of interesting factoids about
daylight saving time.

This page is just fascinating:

Actually, when this was first announced it was supposedly for energy
conservation, but that's not gonna help. I mean, I'm gonna be turning
on my lights in the mornings now instead of only having them on at
night. How is this supposed to save anything? All it's gonna do is
shift the hours of energy use.
