Like I said, where there's nothing to refute, discussions
are
usually
short.
Well .... let me ask you this: Have you ever read about the
TMJ
iatroepidemic?
Webby
I wish to first define "tmjd" as: temporomandibular joint
disease.
What percentage of "tmjd" is caused by surgery having been
performed on
the TMJ when it was not diseased in the first place (one or
both)?
Webby
Most temporomandibular joint disorders (tmjd's) are, as I said, a
"dislocated jaw". You wouldn't term a dislocated shoulder a
"disease". Since the vast majority of tmjd's are dislocations of
the
jaw caused by damaged occlusal surfaces of the teeth, performing
surgery on the tmj when the occlusal damage/dislocation is
present
just adds one more obstacle to ultimately curing the tmjd.
Splinting
with well-chewed firm gum proves the cause of the vast majority
of
tmjd to the sufferers, and provides the solution until the damage
to
the occlusal surfaces is repaired, or some of the upper molars
are
pulled, or the offending upper fillings fall out, whichever
occurs
first. The most comforting fact is that one does not need a
dentist
to stop tmjd pain of even the most severe sort, and not even when
facial plate disocclusion has been an element of it. Placement
of
well-chewed firm gum rapidly repairs the dislocation, sometimes
aided
by an external homemade splint consisting of a very soft leather
belt
under the jaw fastened at the back top of the head when facial
plate
disocclusion has been an element, and aided by the dynamic
character
of the gum until "just the right spot" is found to provide the
subject
the most effective splint. Of course, one can't be using pain
killers
or one won't know when one has properly splinted the jaw. One
has to
feel the disappearance of pain to know they have the splint
properly
located. Taking pain killers is the most dangerous thing a
would-be
self-treating tmjd sufferer can do as the natural absense of pain
guides one to the solution with the splint.
What do you think necessitates the need for total joint replacement
of
the TMJ due to tmjd?

Suicide would be expected before a total joint replacement would be
expected, except for an accident victim where the jaw is crushed and
the replacement forthcoming.
You are a strange cat? Do you have or do you know anyone that suffers
from TMJ? Myself & my mother both suffered greatly from this. My
mother has had numerous changes to her teeth and none have worked
because it is the joint!! I underwent a bilateral tmj surgery with
diskectomies and autologous fat grafts. And I have complete faith
that with proper treatment and right minded doctors a persons pain can
greatly be reduced. Not with hard chewing gum & a belt. WOW!- Hide

You won't know till you try. And all you and you mother needed in the
first instance was to place some well-chewed firm gum in your mouth as
a splint to properly reposition your jaw It doesn't take "numerous
changes to the teeth" to eliminate tmjd, just the right changes, just
once. For those who can't find a dentist to correct the surface
occlusion problem, the gum splint solution doesn't just greatly reduce
the pain, it COMPLETELY ELIMINATES IT rapidly because it properly
aligns the jaw, and a dislocated jaw is what tmjd is in 99.99% of
cases.
I have bilateral prosthestic TMJs. Would you care to guess why, "pat"?
