I want to geocash but i try this and that and it no way to tell me
where geocach is to be found. Useless.

Switch to the map screen, the numbers are telling you where you are.
Try adding some waypoints and calling them 'Bus Stop', 'Chip Shop', 'Pub',
'cash point', 'Bridge' (where the trolls live) :)
You can download lots more from waypoints from the net.
Geocaching sites usually give you a position too. |

The eTrex does not have a map screen. It is not a mapping receiver.
Sounds to me like the OP is still on the low side of the learning curve.
For the OP, look into "mapping handheld" GPS receivers, you have a basic
receiver I think. And you'll need to have one that has mapping for
where you live. More info on them here:

The eTrex does have a map screen, it is basic and displays the position, and
track(s), and waypoints. It is a user generated map however and I guess the
OP was expecting something like a printed map display. |

Navigation tools are not for everybody. |

There are never any numbers on the map screen that tell you where you are.
And I stand corrected to the extend that it has a screen they call the
Map screen. But it still has no maps. In a product line where some
models have maps and some do not, that is one that does not have maps.
I was trying to explain to the OP what the point was that he missed and
why his eTrex did not depict him relative to other objects and why he
was not seeing what he thought he would see. So, for the purpose of his
understanding what he has and the difference between the mapping and
non-mapping Garmin models, the eTrex has no maps.

the etrex is an excellent GPS - does everything it purports to do -
you must be a bit geo-challenged
read the manual
sell it on eBay and buy one with a map - then read the manual |
