The purpose of the first post in this thread was to let professional and
amateur earthquake researchers around the world know how they could get a
copy of a computer program which generates a certain type of data regarding
the likelihood that an earthquake could occur by chance in a specific
location during a specified time window.
The program can't generate data, it generates numbers. Data comes from
events and observations.
It seems EDG has a problem with understanding where data comes from.
Quote: A number of response posts followed the original one. And although they did
not appear to me to have anything to do with the program technology or the
type of information the program generates I thought that they might be
helpful as they would bring some attention to the discussion about it.
The programs puts data in and gets information out... It can't generate
data.
What language did you use to write the program? was it written in C+? Dow
does it work?
Quote: It now appears to me that there have been enough posts to achieve both of
those goals. So, if you are a Newsgroup reader who would like to see this
thread come to an end then I suggest that you post a note saying, "Let it
end!"
LOL. EDG doesn't like people pointing out how fake he is. and wants to end
what he can't handle, that's serious questions.
Quote: It should be interesting to see if that accomplishes anything.
I don't think it will accomplish anything...

Newsgroup Readers - Please circulate copies of this report to earthquake
researchers and forecasters including people working for universities and
government agencies.
No.
Coach Fire when ready...
EDG is a pure crank. I have a "copy of his program" and I am looking for
indications of who wrote it, and any hidden back doors. It has some odd
looking coding in it and some odd "windows hooks."

This discussion has to be one of the strangest looking ones I myself have
ever seen in the Newsgroups.
Exactly what are you folks trying to do? The program you appear to me to be
attempting to decode is a standard download installation program. You have
to run it before the operational program appears. And if you do that you
will then discover that before it installs anything it explains in detail
where program files are going to be stored etc. And, if you finish the
installation and eventually forget that information then when the actual
program runs you can press the F2 key and a "help" file is displayed which
explains once again how the program works and where important files are
stored etc. It also contains a standard "uninstall" feature.
The operational program was written in a compiled version of Basic. It
accepts numbers from the keyboard, reads earthquake information from a text
file, does some calculations, stores some earthquake data in another text
file, displays some calculation results on the computer screen, and asks you
if you want to quit or do another round of calculations.
If you have downloaded the program and don't trust it then you can try
running it on an old computer and see for yourselves what it does. It's a
relatively simple number crunching program which takes something like 15
seconds to a minute to do a complete round of calculations depending on your
computer speed.
