Plus it is tied into all the other systems (mutes the stereo for
directions, updates the ETA on the computer, etc).
I was hoping to downlaod every other year or so from somewhere and pay
them
$$ the other years to keep them in business. Didn't see the .ISO images
anywhere though.
Oh, well - guess like other things with these types of cars, just give
'em

Sell the overpriced BMW system on eBay and get yourself a better and
less expensive aftermarket unit with more reasonably-priced annual map
upgrades. Or skip a year or two between upgrades - the changes from
one year to the next are usually fairly small.
