convex/concave manifold

i have a question maybe someone can help with. suppose i have a point and
there are N triangles incident to this point. i have a normal for each of
the triangles and i have the triangles ordered about the point. now given
this data is there some way for me to compute some sort of characteristic
angle at the point such that it will indicate whether this set of triangle
form a convex or concave manifold ?

how should information about the normals of the triangles and the
angles they have at the common vertex tell you something about convexity of the
surface? if you draw some pictures you will see that this alone will not work.
