Hello I am teacher of mathematics and one of my students asked me
about how to choose correct statistical method to learn whether there
is a significant relation between numbers chosen randomly by people and
their favorite colors etc. Thanks in advance.

Asking how to choose a method without understanding the
terms is a MISTAKE; it is important to understand (NOT
be able to compute) probability, and the technical
term "statistica significance" and how little relation
it has to practical significance.

Herman... be gentle. This person has asked a perfectly good
question. Just because he/she didn't use precise statistical terms
(aka jargon) is not a reason to bring out the attack dogs. Let's see
what we may do to help this person and help her student. OK?
