The drugs don't work
Patients should be fully informed about the after effects of
anti-depressants such as Citalopram before they commence treatment.

You're absolutely right about how little people are informed. Also
there is a rush to use drugs often showing an almost inhuman lack of
curiousity and compassion. Where did these feelings come from? When
did you feel like this before? Things like the relationships with
partners, children, parents, bosses never get looked into? Past
traumas that might be peeking out are sent back to the cellar by the
drugs. There is a rush to diagnose and medicate. And this rush is
supported by bribes that are nto called bribes to psychiatrists and
pushy marketing by pharmaceutical companies. Drugs also fit our quick
fix society and our hatred of strong emotions and anything that seems
not normal.

I think the blanket statement Drugs don't work goes too far. They
work in negative ways, for example. they cut people off from their
feelings and memories. but honestly, they do work in positive ways.
Assuming that in all situations one must take the PURIST root to
solving a problem is unfair. A mild example from a related realm are
people who think that sugar should never be eaten and have incredibly
strict expectations of their own and other people's diets. There were
periods in my life wehre I went deeply into emotions and pain when I
might have been more likely to take a drug, short term, if i had had
kids. Or if all my friends had been unable to support me. If I had
been alone in a new city. And hell, there may be people out there who
are best off with certain psychotropic help, mental diabetics, so to
speak.

Rigity is no answer,t hough I sympathize with the feeling given the
drug eating frenzy that is going on out there.

But the way in which anyone and everyone gets diagnosed and
medications is slid across that counter is sick and evil. It is a
short cut that society as a whole will pay for.

Why are we having such a hard time with the way things are?

oH, its actually a bunch of individuals with chemical problems. Oh.
Good, everything is fine.

Drugs are the only thing that controls the physiological component of
bipolar disorder, so "fitting in," as you and John put it, is exactly
what I *do* want to do. Therapy helps with all the side issues and
personality warps that can occur as a result of living with the
disorder, but it doesn't prevent a manic episode and only relieves
depression to a certain extent.

"Linda" <indomitable2@nospam.com> scrawled a pathetic rant that does
not warrant repetition.

What does warrant stating, however, is this:

Linda, widely known as a netdead moron who posts off topic to
just about every news group, posts about something or somebody
not working.

But she doesn't work. There is scads of evidence that she has
taken advantage of her own family members. She makes hay off the
unfortunates (like Diana N) to try to gain notoriety for herself.

All for nothing. What a looooooser.

But hey! Linda: HARFUL!!

And you're turned on? Yes, we know, read your recent post about that.

Do you discriminate against women porch sitters?

That would be a blubbery neighbor next door to the porch sitter, whose
camp chair broke when they tried to occupy the same space.
Porch sitter is male. All male.
