Dear friends,

Cari amici,

I am translating into Italian the book of B. Russell ?The Analysis of Mind?.
I have some reflection to propose about some of the views (expecially in
the VIII lecture) in this work.

Bertrand Russell opinion around 1921 was that there is not only a material
stuff and a mental stuff, but even a stuff that is not neither phisical nor
spiritual.

To the scope of mental stuff belongs believes, desires, knowledges,
argumentations and ideas or images.

The scope of the material stuff is the objects studied by physics, chemistry
and biology, and therefore includes the study of nervous systems.

There are finally such things that are material as regard their causation
and mental as regard their effects, and that depends upone the activation
of sense organs; these things, called sensations, constitute something of
nothing spiritual nor physical.

At this point my question to you is the follow:

are probable existent minds with a self that have not in their components
things that have material causes and mental effects?

or

are possible minds that have nothing like sensations?

Or

From your point of view, are possible or not the gods of some ancient greek
philosopher, perfect and always applied into the contemplation of their
selfs perfection?

I hope you want to reply.

I think that only one of the possible answers is consistent with the believe
into the immortality of some of the minds with a self. I am interested in
your opinion.

You can have our opinion if you tell us what you want us to opine

about. We don't know which one of the possible answers you think is
consistent with the belief in the immortality of some of the minds with
a self, or why you think so.

I would strongly suggest that before attempting to translate Russell into
Italian you brush up on your English, which obviously is rather primitive.
