I just started wearing Gas Permeable lens by Menicon Z brand lens and
have been wearing PMMA regular hard lens for 30 years and I cannot wear
my new GP lens for more then 8 hours without them feeling like they
have a grain of sand in the upper corner of my eye. I have not had any
problems with wearing hard lens and my eyes are usually a little dry
all of the time. I have taken them out and will try to talk to my eye
doctor after the holidays but I will definatly not be putting them back
into my eyes until someone can give me an answer as to what might be
causing this problem. If there is anyone else out there who is having
the same problem as me with these type of lens can reply back to me I
would appreciate it. It is only happening to my right lens only and not
the left one which is really driving me crazy. Thank You in dvance for
any help and to anyone else who is having the same type of problem I am
having. . |

I've been fitting those lenses ever since they were available in the
U.S., and I still use them. I've not ever had an experience like the
one you describe. Perhaps there has been a change in one or more of
the lens parameters, i.e. diameter, base curve, etc. I think that PMMA
lenses may have a more wettable surface, but the Menicon lense are
plasma treated to improve wettability. Perhaps the one lens giving you
the problem did not get the plasma treatment..... I'm sure you'll
raise those issues with your eye doc.
