I am intending to do some work in finite elements and am looking for a
good finite element library. Basically, I am solving only linear
problems and mostly 2D. We used to work with MODULEF but I am looking
to replace it by something more modern in C++. I am also working with
WINDOWS.
I made a research on internet and found that a lot of libraries are
available. To give only some names, I found : GETFEM, OFELI, DEAL which
are freeware and some commercial ones also. I made also some tests
using FREEFEM++ which is very powerful but which is looks difficult to
call from some other code.
What I need to do is to be able to couple the fem with some other
problem and may be program my own equations. I am solving only linear
problems and I dont need anything specific like mesh adaptation for
example. The kind of problems I am solving are linear elasticity,
electrostatic, piezoelectricity. I can program piezoelectricity for
example if it is not in the library.
My criteria are:
- reliability of the library
- easy to learn and to use
- computation efficiency (speed and memory)
- avalaibility of source code
Anybody who would like to share his experience is welcome.
Thanks,
Marc |
