Dear All,
I would like you to join me in my current art project entitled CALCULATORIUM
MUNDI.
What can be more ordinary than the pebbles under our feet? We hardly ever
pay attention to them. However, when we find ourselves in some special
place, many of us pick them up to take them home. All the little stones and
the people who pick them up are different and unique, and even if we can
identify many similarities between them, we will never find two identical
ones.
Thousands of years ago, in ancient Greece, mathematical calculations were
made by means of little pebbles (the Latin term calculus means both "a
little stone" and "calculation"). This linguistic merger of the perfect and
abstract beauty of numbers and mathematical equations with the unique beauty
of a single stone has become a sign of a complete picture of the world. The
whole world is contained between a stone and a number. It is my intention to
create a "Calculatorium Mundi," a virtual and real space where the scattered
stones will be gathered, condensing the world's space, and where along with
the numbers they will make up its essential image.

P.S. The project is not mine but my colleagues, he asked me to advertise for
it wherever I can so I do it here to. |
