Watch out miller/lincoln/HTP, just might be the end of dynasty (pun
intended, possible
consequences grossly overstated ).

http://www.grizzly.com/catalog/2007/Main/585

True square-wave inverter, adjustable AC frequency, HF arc, pulse
control, adjustable pre/post flows, up&down slopes for welding current.
PEDAL included. Holy cr@p ! The duty cycle is not too shabby for unit
of this size: 35% @ 130DC/160AC amps, 100% at around 80Amp.

I saw these welders on Ebay a while back and thought it ain't gonna be
long before Grizz and HF get into the game. Now, if HF starts to carry
this one and it is available in local stores, 20% off coupon makes it
an absolutely irresistable deal !

Now, for all of ya import bashers, I am a happy owner of great many HF
and Grizz tools (mini mill, mini lathe, 9x20, TIG, MIG, 4x6 BS etc etc)
and, to the ones in the market for a decent "budget" TIG machine, I
recommend considering this one !

I fully expect one of Big Three to call whoever makes this in China
and buy them out, just to kill the production. snatch yours now. They
stand to loose tons of money - just think of the all the 10s of
thousands of welding-wannabes accross the nation, drooling over
episodes of Americal Chopper .

Why are they worried. Although theirs is an inverter the Econotig for the
same money has the regulator and more current, 180A. Just not all the fancy
adjustments. Besides in 10 years where you gonna buy parts????

I would wait until I hear reports on how well they actually work under
normal use, but it is interesting.

The closest mainstream machine to this is the ESAB Heliarc 161, which
costs about $500 more.
