Hello,
We have 25 chickens and plan on getting some turkeys this spring.
We have been given different advice on where to house our turkeys. Some
have told us that under no circumstances should we keep turkeys and
chickens together because turkeys will bring disease to our
chickens...others have told us they have done it with no problem. What
is the TRUTH?...we plan on getting about 15 turkeys to raise for
ourselves and to sell for the next Holiday season...we do intend to get
some additional chicks with them as I've been told it is good to order
some chicks when you order baby turkeys because the chicks will help
teach the turkeys to eat/drink.
BTW...are turkeys dumber than GF?

Yes chicks will teach the dumb birds to eat, but remember that chicks
also carry blackhead disease, which will kill your turks unless you
seperate them once they learn to eat. |

I have kept my turkeys and chickens (and ducks, and geese) together for 5
years without any harm to anyone that I can tell... Just dumb luck???
