What do you guys do? Eat some, keep some?
I gave away a gorgeous, strapping rooster today.
Got him to his new home and found evidence that dogs
have been killing chooks there. Two different feather
piles in the last three days.
I didn't want to eat this one; he's got all signs of
being a really great rooster for a bunch of hens. A
good guard from eagles, hawks, falcons, coyotes, etc.

Keep the ones that are needed for next few years breeding -- from the best
eggs for the breed/ best hens for the breed
Sell ones for others to use as breeding birds as we record and select for
features that others want - to improve their own lines
Cull out as they show themselves for breeds that we have lots already/ don't
need to be so fussy about what we are keeping/lighter birds so not so useful
in the freezer.
Put the rest in the freezer.
