hello,

while on scaly-leg patrol in the past couple of weeks, i have noticed a pit
in the foot of one of the chooks. it's nearish the webbing between her toes
and there's no way to describe it but as a pit. about 5mm long & 5mm (or
even more) deep, but only perhaps 1mm wide.

when i first found it, i managed to get out the stuff(!!!) that was in there
(this was really difficult - it was wedged in like anything) & thought
perhaps it was a little bit of stick she'd wedged in there somehow that's
collected more stuff around it, & that the pit would go away now the stick &
stuff was out. since then, the pit's still there. it collects "stuff", of
course. i've been getting the stuff out (it's looser each time). i can't
tell if the pit's shrunk a little perhaps, or if that's my wishful thinking.
no bleeding or anything, & (besides the fact she doesn't want to be in that
situation at all Wink it's clearly not painful or unpleasant for her if i
fiddle with it. indeed, she seemed happier about it than getting vaseline on
the legs (which she thinks is outrageous).

is this a normal phenomenon? anything to be concerned about? does anyone
know what it is or how it got there? will it go away eventually?
thanks!!
kylie
