I've wondered about who has made the biggest magnifying glasses, how
they did it, etc. I'm not interested in microscopes. I'm more
interested in using lenses in solar power applications, like you fry a
bug with a little magnifying glass.

That will likely be a fresnell lens.
One hint : in lighthouses they can be 2m in diameter.

Solar power applications tend to use mirrors.
One of the biggest was 20m or so in diameter.
