Hi,

Im looking for an online tutorial or something similar that explains the
modeling of beam propagation in fiber structures. If there is no online
material can somebody tell me a good (introductory) book about beam
propagation methods? I would be very appreciative for any help.
Thanks in advance.

K. Kawano and T. Kitoh, Introduction to Optical Waveguide Analysis. New
York: Wiley (2001). A little quirky in its language, not as strong as
it could be on physical explanation and interpretation, but technically
solid, and clear and detailed enough that you can construct your own
code from it if you want to. Covers both waveguide eigenmode-finding
methods and BPM (beam propagation) methods. I had good luck with it.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I'm going to get this book, it seems to be

exactly what I was looking for.
