The constant quest for energy? It seems that the constant quest for
power, not energy, has been what ends life on this mud speck in space.
Course one could surmise that energy is the ultimate goal but that is
a strawman's arguement. Ever since we've made our presence known on
this rock we have always been on the qwest for fire in it's different
forms. First it was with plant matter, then animal oil then petrol oil
then fission, now it's fussion. There are offshoots to this qwest for
fire like wind, solar, PV, alcohol etc...
Don't get yourself all bass-ackwards. The end of human life - if it
ever comes -will be by the qwest for and the irrational use of power
(not energy).
Quote: Resource wars exist now and will be coming to an

I have yet to see one. This idiologe spew about Iraq being an energy,
or "Resource War" as you put it, is nothing more than a "wag the dog"
attempt by the liberal political arm of the world's elite in it's
attempts to wrench "Power" away from a rising, popular front of people
with conservative values and conservative beliefs.
Quote: A resurgence of Nazi ideology in Germany,
and an emboldened EU in consort with power hungry Putin would make
for an interesting future vis a vis the US policies of empire and
pre-emption and all that....
Oh man, that is so wrong on so many levels yet so right in so many
others. No wonder you're so confused.
#1) Resurgence of Nazi Ideology in Germany? Ring the bell of stupidity
bone head. It never left. When stationed in Germany there were places
you were told to never go to because Nazi sentiment had never left. An
American, a tourist but especially a soldier, was far game and usually
died if caught out alone. Heck, even Mormon Missionaries are told to
stay away by their church - imagine that.
#2) A power hungry Putin? Couldn't agree with you more.
#3) An emboldened EU? God how pathetic. The EU is a bunch of socialist
panty waisted cretins with no fully formed brain in the bunch. They
are so scared of "Power Hungry Putin" that they soil themselves
everytime he sneezes. They'll fall lock step with whomever they hope
won't hurt them (boo hoo). Since Putin is right there they don't want
to upset the apple cart. After all look at all of that oil he has.
#4) US Policies of Empire? What kind of anti-American spew is that?
Chewed a little too long on that turkey leg I see. If the US had some
grandiose desire for world domination then why ain't we doin' it
instead of messin' with small fry pukes like Iraq? Why did we give
orbital technology to China? Why do we give multi-billion dollar
handouts to Russia and many, many, many other nations throughout the
world? Your logic falls flat on its face.
#5) As the most advanced and powerful nation on this lump of clay
pre-emptive strike ability is what generally separates us from our
lifestyle, normally called Freedom, and slavery or outright
annihilation.
Quote: How were things in North Korea and Iran this week?
Why? you want to move there. I'll pay for the ticket.
Quote: Europe has a much more severe emerging gas shortage than the US.
If the US has a 'gas cliff' then Europe has a 'gas precipice'.
Agreed.
Quote: Central Asia is vital to European gas security, and Russia holds all the
real and existing (not fantasy traces on paper or digital maps) pipelines
and transport infrastructure.
Agreed
Quote: So Europe has to play the Russian card. So Germany and France cosied up to
Putin on Iraq, while of course turning a big blind eye to Putin's
atrocities in Chechnya (nobody talks about Chechnya in Europe
anymore Must not offend Putin!).
Chilling isn't it. Agreed with also.
Quote: But that can only go on so long because there isnt enough for all players -

So far, unknown. What should be happening there is what is happening
here. Why, for example has no one looked into cash crops in China,
India, Pakistan as well as the EU, that can be used to create ethanol?
Given the propensity for the US to export intellectual property to the
outside world why not share recent discoveries in bio-gas production,
increasing ethanol production from previously poor yeild crops, etc..
Quote: Altogether, and so far, 7 nuclear weapons states have "vital and diverging
interests" in this region.
Only because someone in power is seeking more.

Ahh, but that come from confusion and short sightedness. I might even
say stupidity.
The rest of this inane felgercarb I'll address later.

Alas, you show how utterly shortsighted or unintellegable you are.
IF "Weapons O Mass Genocide" were ever to be used it "WOULD NOT"
be over dwindling "Resources". If that were to be the case then
they would have been put to work all ready, especially give the
last 30 years of US history. If you destroy the user base, destroy
the money line you destroy your power base and no "Larger" Nation
is going to do that because it is their population that drives the
money machine, which, in turn, drives their source of Power.
What you arer likely to see is incremental increases in discoveries
into alternative energy and renewables that will sudenly become
viable solutions to the present fuel source - crude oil. Electrolosis
of water into H2 and O will suddenly become cost effective, Plants
will be found that will yeild larger than normal quantities of
vegatable oils bio-diesel or starch for alcohol.
Quote: The smaller nations? They will be told to not even think
of asking for oil and gas, and to not dare to try to deny the

What's more likely to happen is, if they're smart, they'll dump
their crude on the market and use the profits to delve directly
into renewable research.

When you burn fuel to make hydrogen via electrolosis, it will
never be cost or energy effective.

Generally true. However, there are a number of energy sources that
don't involve combustion. and which produce electricity at times of the
day that do not track well with the electricity demand. Storing that
energy by generating hydrogen with electrolysis makes a lot of sense.
Also bear in mind that normal cars are very inefficient at recovering
the available energy in the fuel they burn. Big power plants are much
more efficient, so that fossil fuel -> electricity -> hydrogen
-> fuel cell vehicle is not that much worse than most cars. Hybrid cars
(Toyota, Honda), and high efficiency diesels (Volkswagon), do much better. |

So you back off generating sources that do track well with demand.
Making hydrogen via electrolysis makes no sense at all.
What a waste of energy!
