The replacement of copper with manganese in brains may be a key
reason why prions form.

I checked out the link and the only explanation I have is that the authors
definitely had some sort of chemicals in their brains.

Check the archives of uk.business.agriculture.
Indeed check the scientific literature. It has been generally rebutted with
monotonous regularity

Actually I probably owe Ron an apology, because he wasn't to know just how
old hat it is
What US readers must remember is that in this whole debate since the US case
I doubt any Brit has heard anything new that wasn't discussed to death five
years ago.
But the same loonies are in there reheasing their same old arguments, and
the same vested interests are in there looking for funding
In fact it has got to the stage where the antis are so desperate that
Torsten is actually discussing things with Pete as some sort of mutual
admiration society

Sad to see how low he has sunk, then.

A theory about how prions are formed suggests that organophosphate
pesticides could be partly to blame. Two people have already died defending
this theory, apparently at the hands of professional assassins working
either for the British government or the chemical industry. So the theory
needs to be taken seriously.
Who died, when and how?

the story has been discussed widely in the UK and the Organophosphate link
just doesn't stand close analysis,
And I too would love to know the names of the two people who died, the idea
that the British government could do something so competant as to hire good
assassins is a great comfort for all us UK taxpayers

Quote: The chemistry discussed at the following page sure looks good. I still

not been able to get the opinion of a physician on whether it's real or

I remember reading his papers when they came out (remember in the UK we have
had over 20 years of this) and the best thing about him wasn't his answers,
but the questions he asked that forced other people to look for answers. I
think he is pretty well written off now, his organo-phosphate idea doesn't
seem to have any takers anymore.
I think his biggest service has been to kick government into actually doing
things
