I've put free Windows software at
http://www.geocities.com/revtkatt/
which counts Geiger Counter pulses.
You can specify large integration times
and so get much more sensitivity from eg
surplus CDV 700 meters.
You can even measure betas from K-40
in salt substitute.

The program can also plot eg decay curves.
All you need is a soundcard. Its
free for educational use.
