Apparently, grinding a superconductor into nano-sized particles
improves its magnetic tolerance:

IMHO, this seemed to have been implied by recent information on
superconductors made from intercalated materials, including the
experiment on buckyball materials from Lucent.

I wonder whether this magnetic tolerance would be even more improved
with thin linear shaped pieces. There was some paper published by Univ
of Toronto, asserting that "striped" materials would have the best
superconductive properties.

A 1-dimensional linear shape would have better magnetic tolerance
because it's not thick enough to accomodate the magnetic vortices that
interfere with superconductivity.
