My question is how do you find the answer to b?
I have the equation x = x(subscript 0) + vot + .5a(t^2)
A crate with the mass 3.25kg initially at rest on a warehouse floor is acted
on by a net horizontal force of 140N.
a)What acceleration is produced? ans. 4.3
b)How far does the crate travel in 10.0s? ans. 215m
c)What is the speed at the end of 10.0s? ans. 43m/s^2
Thanks for your help. |

If you cannot solve that, then you have failed. |

thanks for your help. But, I didn't come up with the answers when I try to
work out the numbers in my calculator it does come out right. I just wanted
to know what I was doing wrong. People do make mistakes and things may not
always be clear to some people the first time around.

You need to be able to solve these simple types of problems yourself.
If you have questions, post the work you have done on the problem so
that people can show you where you went wrong.
Whining about your calculator only shows that you have let the
calculator do the thinking.

no not really I really don't need to "answer question like this myself"
because I am not a physics major. I was just wondering
about this problem. But thanks for your help anyway.

Where did you get the numbers from you show below?
Quote: I have the equation x = x(subscript 0) + vot + .5a(t^2)
A crate with the mass 3.25kg initially at rest on a warehouse floor is acted
on by a net horizontal force of 140N.
a)What acceleration is produced? ans. 4.3
4.3 what? acceleration has a unit, you know?
Anyway, I don't see why the result should be 4.3 here. Could you
please explain how you got that?
Do you perhaps have a typo in your stuff above? Either 32.5 kg
or 14N?
Quote: b)How far does the crate travel in 10.0s? ans. 215m
You have the equation for x (the distance) above. You know
x_0, v_0, a and t. So where is the problem, exactly?
Quote: c)What is the speed at the end of 10.0s? ans. 43m/s^2
Do you know the formula for calculating the speed for
a uniformly accelerated motion?
Bye,
