The Danes have a way of simplifying decisions.

From an observer in Denmark.........

"We in Denmark cannot figure out why you are even bothering to hold an
election.

On one side, you have a bitch who is a lawyer, married to a lawyer.
And a lawyer who is married to a bitch who is a lawyer.

On the other side, you have a true war hero, married to a woman with a
huge chest, who owns a beer distributorship.

Is there a contest here?"

No comment is provided nor is any required. Still, is the current
slate of presidential candidates the best that our country can muster
up? Damn, I hope not!

Well the fact that the so called war hero is in actuality a war mongering
old fool does complicate things, now doesn't it?- Hide quoted text -

Well...that's your opinion, to which you are entitled.

Still, learn to cultivate your sense of humor... Something that
differentiates intelligent people from grunts.

Actually not, Harry. some of the most intelligent people I've known had
close to zero sense of humor. And for that matter I've known some utter
dolts who had none either.

Concerning the sense of humor....

Fred, you may be confusing very serious and dedicated people to those
intelligent, or worse super-intelligent (which I am definitely not). I
know some very dedicated librarians that can direct you to any subject
or any book in the library, but not content. Were you to go into your
local university library and ask for references on the intersticial
tranmission of fluids between cell membranes, you would be likely
greeted with a blank stare. This is possibly the separator between
education/knowledge/training and intelligence.

My take on this phenomena (and not being a neuro-physiologist may be
very wrong), but in my simple-minded model (based on obervational
experience) is that the brain in an intelligent person functions very
similar to a comparison loop in a computer. It is constantly running
looking for associations that equate perceptual intake from stored
memories. The response when a mental association takes place can be
often uncontrolled.

If there is no stored memory of a humorous or pathos situation or
event, there will be no association, and certainly there will be no
humorous reaction. Now on the other hand, your brain has stored images
of say Voltaire's writings (Candide) for example, you might react with
some form of humor when a parady of Voltaire comes to mind, given that
Voltaire wrote about pathos, Often modern humor is based on pathos,
dating back to the days of silent movies.

Whatever, when the mental loop associates the stored memories with the
present, a reaction of humor often is evoked.

Often this is at inconvenient times. Very intelligent people often
fare poorly at funerals and viewings, because their reactions are
often misinterpreted. They can be standing at the head of the coffin,
and suddently burst into hysterical laughter because they recall and
focus on some previous occasion in which the deceased did somthing
very funny. They suddenly reacall that time, and under the stress of
the situation cannot repress the laughter. This reaction is not
uncommon, and funeral directors are trained to deal with it.

It is my impression that non-intelligent people don't grasp simple
humor except for the slapstick and kid shows. We may disagree on
this, but that's my impression.

This is the nature of humor. I don't laugh at TV sitcoms, but I do
laugh during British TV humor because it is subtle and makes you think
a bit, and then you laugh. Same with the TV shows like "Monk" and
"House". The humor in "Monk" is superficial, but that in "House" has
more depth. It took my wife (who is no dim bulb) about a year to grasp
that "Monk" is a comedy. She has yet to understand "House".

Just some thinking out loud, and now my immediate interest is turning
to the evolution of both spoken and written languages.

"It is both a blessing, and a curse."
