Is there any realistic possibility of crews egressing from the soyuz
capsule and using their own parachutes if the capsule's parachutes are
inop or if there is a fire in the capsule ?
Or is there no space for parachutes between the seat liners and the
re-entry suits ?
Is the soyuz just too cramped to allow crewmembers to unstrap themselves
and egress during a freefall ? |

I suspect there's too little time, even if chutes were available.

yes.
They do after launch at 0g (= freefall).

Once in orbit they open the hatch to get into the orbital module. Both
is possible, but I doubt they had enough time to bail out.
It isn't a free fall, there is drag on the vehicle. Also, what says
it isn't tumbling |
