DNA and destiny -- December 25, 2003
Watson has plenty to talk about.
The 75-year old scientist won a Nobel prize in 1962 for discovering
the genetic structure of DNA with his collaborator, Francis Crick --
a landmark event in science that will be examined in the five-part
PBS series "DNA," which airs Sundays at 10 p.m...starting Jan. 4.
Watson has urged further research into DNA and an expansion of that
knowledge into controversial areas, including genetic manipulation
of unborn children to make them smarter...[ get that? Genes drive IQ.]
Watson ... believes there is a gene associated with a predisposition
for *VIOLENCE*.
Watson believes we are the product of our genes (and our ancestors'
genes). Our DNA is the hand we are dealt; it is easier to play a
strong hand than a weak one.

"Obviously, some people need to be locked up because they're a menace

If DNA research continues at its present pace, Watson predicts "that
we're going to do what people prophesied we (science)would be able to
