Hello all,
What does "genre" mean in the following extract from an article on the
inclusion of appropriate man-machine interfaces in software design:
Cet article présente la valorisation du genre dans le processus de
conception d'applications interactives, travaux relevant des
interactions homme-machine et s'appuyant sur l'acception littéraire du
genre. Nous exposons notre vision du genre comme un élément de
représentation mentale des applications interactives contribuant à
leur acceptabilité.

It means "type", "kind" or ... "genre". For instance, "Ce site Web
est du genre éducatif, touristique, théorique, etc." If you want only
the translation, perhaps this will be useful,
