Toyota sure does have a lot of surprises up its sleeve. But it would
not be quite surprising if it does. After all, we do know that the
Toyota Motor Corporation can be considered as one of the biggest and
strongest companies in the industry right now. And with great power
comes great responsibility and perhaps the company believes that it is
their responsibility to produce vehicles that would astound and make
the public happy. Sure, they do create remarkable stuff from Toyota
Sequoia original parts to fine Toyota accessories to exemplary
vehicles but now the company would like to show the motoring public a
glimpse of what the future holds.
The company would be showing off soon the Toyota Fine-N vehicle which
is actually a hydrogen fuel cell concept car. And according to Toyota,
this kind of vehicle would soon be filling the roads and streets of
our future. This vehicle would be part of the main displays that
Toyota South Africa would be sending off at the Auto Africa 2006
exhibit. The event would be held at Johannesburg's Expo Center and
would be starting from the 26th of October up until the 5th of
November....

Forks, I have to tell you that posts like these partially acount that
the two cars that I drive are a 1968 Cadillac Cimarron,and a 1996 Ford
Bronco. Now I know that neither the Cimerrona or the Bronco would me
even marginally acceptable for young turks today that use a car to
impress girls, That fine if the girls that you want to impress are age
15-18, who get their education on what is hot from MTV or similar
sources of guidance, for older chick that 1996 restored Bronco is an
attention getter, particular since it is painted lime green, which at
first I though was a ghastly color. more suited to California beaches
I originally thought. After seeing the reaction here is conservative
Massachusetts I thought again. Damn thing was televised 3 times, and
now lime green , even Lincold Navigators, seem to be common place here
after only a year or so. Go figure. At any rate, I believe it was
like seeing O.J.'s white Bronco in that low speed chase in California.
Some people appear just to be into what they believe to be Kool.

That said -- I dive the old Cimarron when I want fuel efficiency,
which is important today. At highway speeds it consumes on an average
26=mp/g. The Bronco on the highway consumes around 22-mpg. Both are
poor in stop-and-go traffic, when a great deal of idlying at stop. and
when stop and go traffic is encountered. These may be the situations
where a hyrbrid is you best bet, and while they may be better for the
environment, they won't do much for your pocket.

Now with respect to the latest developments in new automobiles being
offered to the American public, my take is that they are simply the
same old machines, with only marginal if any impovement is performance
over cars of the 1986-1006 era. The hype today seems to be largely
focused on their audio and navigational elctronics enhancements. I
generally drive the same route to work every day, so I really don't
need and GPS focused navigational assistance (ambulance drivers do).
I also do not wish to be disturbed by the sound from a quadrasonic or
whatever audio system in the car. I really need that little bit of
private time an space to think about what I am going to do on my
arrival at work, nor a system that responds to my audible comments. I
also prefer to to have cell phone service avaialbe when I am traveling
in my care, except for absolutely desperate emergencies.

All in all, I suppose that I am not the typical American Consumer.
Car ads on TV bore me, unless particularly creative. I rather liked
the "Rickey" ads where the guy was driving through the wooods and the
animal were all call out his name...very entertaining...but I have
absolutely no memory of what product they were selling! All car ads
on me have much the same impact.

All that leads up to this, unless he TV advertising people come up
with a way of coupling the produce name to the commercial, they are
simply wasteing millions of dollars with absolutely no benefit to the
sponsor.

Hey, my serivice as a consultant are available.

TV advertising execs, are you too stupid to realize that unless the
product name is deeply embedded into the commercial, no one will
remember it. Just for a few simple example, do you know the name of
Briosci, Chiquita, Ipana (http://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=pCdWfVhlYIM). Did anyone consider why tey remember these names, and
not the products that advertise on the shows on TV that they watched
last niight?

Harry C. (anyone serious iterest in meaningful advtising can readily
track me down..
