Job Posting: Managing Director
Location: Morden Manitoba / Winkler Manitoba area
Our client, is a Canadian-based, independent seed variety research
firm. They have a long standing exclusive relationship with a European
seed company that is the market leader for Canola varieties and
hybrids grown in Europe today. Our client has 15 years of canola
variety development experience, and is a germplasm supplier of highest
regard to many of the well-known seed companies in Canada and the
USA. The founder of the company is planning to retire and a Managing
Director is required to run the company. This is an opportunity to
truly manage an established business, without the need to buy, or
build from scratch.
As the Managing Director your duties will fall into three broad
categories. Firstly you will be the key contact with seed industry
stakeholders, (suppliers, customers, distributors, public
institutions, regulatory, universities, etc.) Secondly, you will be
the business development leader as you foster relationships and
identify opportunities for growth. And thirdly, you will be the
General Manager, directing your staff, managing the money, and
overseeing operations at a high level. Seed multiplication and
inventory management is an integral part of the operation.
To be considered for this position you absolutely must have Seed
industry experience, (the more the better). As a technical minimum
you must understand the seed research and regulatory process. As a
business minimum you must understand how varieties are registered and
commercialized in Canada and the USA. We will be looking for the
ability to assess the market, spot opportunities, foster relationships
and create efficient distribution for Canola hybrids being developed.
A Masters level degree or PhD. is an asset.
