NASA Researchers Ponder Nuclear Asteroid Deflector
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,292464,00.html
Reminds me of the true story about a small town on the Oregon coast
where a dead whale washed up, a big one, and it was stinking up the
beach and messing with tourism. (I think this was in the early 1980s.)
Some local law-enforcement type, like the sheriff or police chief, got
the bright idea of blowing it up with dynamite. So they drilled holes
and loaded up the carcass with explosives, and a bunch of people came
to watch. Unfortunately, even high explosives don't actually make
anything disappear (viz. 9-11), they just make it into smaller chunks.
In this case, it not being a "controlled demolition", they blew the
whale to smithereens of stinking whale flesh, which came down on all
present, and one large chunk landed on the patrol car, demolishing it.
I'm sure this was all done with "government" money too. :-)
http://www.aero.org/conferences/planetarydefense/2007papers/S3-8--Adams-Brief.pdf
I remember that whale fiasco, and they piled boxes of dynamite all
around it then blammo, stink beach town with worse than egg on it's
face, decayed whale flesh and GUTs all over the place.
Watching the locals dodge for cover was hillarious, serves them right.
The entire justification, the whale stinks, now the entire beach does,
lol.

It has happened again now! This time they are just going to let it
rot where it lies. Now it is against federal law to even go near it.

For the record I believe every penny given by the government to NASA
is grand larceny and a complete waste. If you think I'm going to
defend NASA you're talking to the wrong guy. They have centralized and
monopolized science and turned it into a monolithic lie of such
amazing proportions that the majority of people are completely blind
to that fact.
Otherwise intelligent and discerning people who would never trust
anything they were told by government, banking, pharmaceutical,
educational, law, media and various other industry PR reps somehow
take the word of NASA as the gospel truth. They are merely amazed at
the complexity of a universe that they, as mere mortals, will never be
intelligent enough to understand. Just think of the math and all the
degrees required! They can never attain the astoundingly intellectual
levels of the Newtons and Einsteins and Hawkings, the gods of the
current religion of science.
These disciples are then willing to argue the existence of the most
fantastical and improbable mathematical constructs and theoretical
fudge factors (black holes, dark matter, dark energy, eleven-
dimensional "space-time", string theory, the big bang scenario,
neutron stars, magnetars, pulsars, etc.) reported by these lauded
scientists to be out there, objects that they themselves have no first-
hand evidence about. Thus their belief system is based purely on
hearsay - the scripture written by their science priests in the
popular media.
Belief in modern cosmology is faith in the false religion of NASA,
simple as that. And I should know, as I was one of their devout
followers for 25+ years.
Oh, and tell your neighbor that the government that is criminally
wasting money on NASA is also at fault for continuing a criminally
ineffective health system and liable for the criminal wave of
outsourcing that cost him his job.

Marc Peeters is wrong. We've been lifting payloads into orbit for
just about fifty years. Once you're in orbit, escaping orbit takes a
trivial change in delta-v.
Do you accept weather satellites? How about live television from other
continents, like when the Olympics gets covered non-stop? Then you
accept that we can boost out of Low Earth Orbit.

before a force could be brought together to repel

Ask Peeters how they do it... Like ancient Rome was lying that Magnus
Simon could fly above Rome, so is the NASA lying to steal Tax dollars
from its citzens... PEETERS IS RIGHT... they can't fly, and all the
space travel thing is fake. |
