I bought it and hopefully will take possession of it next week.

My question is, has anyone used it for purposes other than cutting
apart ships etc. It is a powerful machine and most of the time I would
use it way below full power.

For example see

http://www.weldingsupplies-uk.co.uk/products/hypertherm/max100.htm

As a three phase machine, it will be run from my phase converter, but
can I expect to be able to run it at below 30 amp single phase input
to the phase converter?

thanks

Pete, yes, I downloaded and read the manual, which is very nice and
includes maintenance and repair. Thanks. This thing is for my own use,
not for resale by the way.

Glad you clarified that, Iggy.

FYI Hypertherm has a G3 torch retrofit / upgrade kit available for your
MAX100. I have no experience with the older torches, but everywhere I
read folks seem to think the G3s are the greatest thing since plasma
cutters.

Pete, thanks. I will try the torch that I have, first. (I have two
torches, one that comes with the cutter, and one that I bought a while
ago). Just gotta learn the basics first. I am not sure if G3 torch
retrofit is available for Max 100 (seems to be available for smaller
models), though I will check.

I will try to see just what are the benefits of using that retrofit, I
am not sure at this point.

Thanks for pointing me in this direction, I will inquire about that.

A sizable increase in consumable life seems to be one of the big
benefits of the G3 torches.
